What is WaxWrap?
WaxWrap is an eco-friendly, 100% natural storage solution to keeping nearly all food and drink fresher for longer and generally lengthening the life of your leftovers!
What is WaxWrap made from?
Organic cotton is impregnated with beeswax, pine resin and organic jojoba oil to create a breathable, pliable covering.
How does WaxWrap work?
It forms a self-adhesive, waterproof seal that lets moisture out to avoid mould forming; this prolongs the life of your leftovers. Wonderfully flexible, it’s cracking for cheese, super for salads, handy for herbs, fantastic for fruit, sensational for snacks, perfect for picnics and packed lunches and even wonderful for wine! It also helps preserve the foods’ nutrient value.
How do I use WaxWrap?
Simply use the heat of your hand to fold, mould and seal it around any shape. Easy!
How do I look after my WaxWrap?
1. Wash with cool water (hot water will melt the wax) and a little washing up liquid.
2. Pat dry with a soft cloth.
3. Pop away ready to reuse.
4. Suitable for freezing
5. Do not store in high temperature > 30 degrees Celsius,
6. Avoid contact with hot food > 30 degrees Celsius,
What can I use WaxWrap for?
Created to cover, store and contain almost any food healthily and naturally, use it to wrap cheese, fruits, vegetables, herbs, sandwiches, snacks, bread, leftovers and much, much more (just not raw meat or fish).
Why can’t I use WaxWrap on raw meat/fish?
Because it is made from cotton material that cannot be washed on a high temperature, as this would melt the wax, there is a risk of cross-contamination. To preserve raw meat or fish, it's best to keep these in an airtight container, glass or ceramic being the most eco-friendly and reusable option, especially if like us you're keen to eliminate plastic permanently. Can WaxWrap be used in the fridge? Yes. Simply use it as you would have used cling film or aluminium foil. If the wrap is slightly stiff after being in the cold, simply use the heat of your hand to restore its pliability. Unfortunately we do not recommend their use in the freezer as this can reduce the life of the WaxWrap.
Can I use WaxWrap in the microwave?
Do not use in microwave, oven or dishwasher. The natural wax coating will melt when heated and this will reduce its life.
Can I reuse WaxWrap?
Yes – absolutely! WaxWrap is designed to be used over and over again and should last around 1 year
How long does WaxWrap last?
Used correctly – i.e. washed in cool water with a little detergent then patted dry – WaxWrap should last for around 1 year.
How can I prolong the life of my WaxWrap?
Avoid using it with acidic or oily foods as they can break down the wax and don’t use for wrapping raw fish/meat (there’s a risk of cross-contamination). Also, keep it away from naked flames – wax is flammable!
What do I do with my WaxWrap when it needs replacing?
Simply pop it into your compost (it’s 100% biodegradable) and re-order your new roll, cloths or sleeves.
Is WaxWrap natural?
Yes, 100%. We use cotton, beeswax, resin and natural oil instead of plastic. It is both plastic and toxin-free making it completely biodegradable.
Is WaxWrap organic?
We make WaxWrap from organic cotton, which is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 approved. This guarantees that the natural fibres are certified organic and that all production procedures are certified to meet rigorous environmental and social standards. Our beautiful designs are also created with non-toxic textile ink making it completely safe for using with food.
Why is WaxWrap better for the environment?
Our production process is plastic free. That means no plastic ‘nasties’ like diethylhexyl adipate, polyethylene or phthalates. Our natural fibres are certified organic and all our production procedures are certified to meet rigorous environmental and social standards. We also use non-toxic textile ink to create our gorgeous designs. We’ve only got one world and it’s up to all of us to do what we can to safeguard the health or our planet and its wealth of natural riches. To contribute to a zero-plastic lifestyle, simply substitute WaxWrap for cling film or aluminium foil (although foil can be recycled, this still uses additional unnecessary resources and increases your carbon footprint). When it needs replacing it can simply be popped into the compost to biodegrade naturally… or even used as firelights for the BBQ! You can be confident WaxWrap is 100% safe – for you, your family and the planet.
How is WaxWrap packaged?
As sustainability is so important to us, all our wraps – whether on a roll, cloth or sleeve – come packaged in boxes made from recycled cardboard, which is totally biodegradable.
Where is WaxWrap stocked?
WaxWrap is available either direct from our website or from a growing list of retailers - Whole Foods Market, Planet Organic, Delishops, Thyme Marketing, Product Guru, Ethical Superstore.
